Do I Need Braces?

Braces are used to straighten teeth and correct their alignment in the patient's mouth. A straighter smile is not only a prettier smile, but also a healthier smile, as teeth are easier to clean when they are properly aligned. When you can clean your teeth more effectively, you have better dental hygiene which gives you a better chance to avoid issues like gum disease and tooth decay.

Time spent wearing braces can range anywhere from several months to two years, depending on the level of orthodontic treatment needed and the desired outcome for the patient.

Traditional Metal Braces

Traditional metal braces have been a trusted treatment method for orthodontists for a very long time. With advances in technology throughout that time, metal braces have been made increasingly effective and more comfortable than they have ever been!

Traditional braces consist of small brackets that are adhered to a patient's teeth, while a thin metal wire connects the brackets and rubber bands hold the wire in place. As treatment progresses, the wire is tightened to guide the teeth their desired position.
